On Wednesday night, Devon Still accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs on behalf of his daughter, Leah. You’re likely familiar with their story but it bears repeating. Last year, Leah Still was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a nasty, aggressive form of childhood cancer. Her father, Devon, a defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals was cut by the team in training camp. Because of the family’s unique situation and because the team didn’t want Devon to go without health insurance, they kept him on the practice roster.
It was a wonderful, touching gesture and one that was universally applauded by everyone in the NFL.
Leah went through her initial chemotherapy and radiation and just recently left the hospital after a stem cell transplant. She’s had some setbacks, sure, but she’s still a happy-go-lucky 5-year-old girl with an incredible father.
How Devon Still kept it together for this speech is nothing short of incredible. He’s a good dad.

There was not a dry eye in the place, especially when Leah made a surprise appearance on the big screen.
Leah’s fight continues as it does for thousands of other people with cancer. The Jimmy V Foundation donates every single dollar to cancer research. It is a wonderful charity and makes a direct impact on the fight against this terrible disease.
