Another day another disgruntled member of the football community taking shots at Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Hall of Fame former Miami Dolphins Don Shula wants everyone to know he’s proud of his Dolphins teams because their football were fully inflated. And they never had anyone in his thirty three years of coaching even suggest an abhorrent act such as deflating footballs per CBS Boston
“It was always done with a lot of class, and a lot of dignity,” the Pro Football Hall of Fame coach said Saturday. “We didn’t deflate any balls. They all had the right amount of air in them.”
Shula has been down this road before. Earlier this year he called Patriots coach Bill Belichick “Belicheat” and previously threw shade on the Patriots historic 2007 season when, in light of Spygate, compared the team to Barry Bonds:
“You would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. They’ve got it,” Shula told the newspaper. “I guess you got the same thing as putting an asterisk by Barry Bonds’ home run record. I guess it will be noted that the Patriots were fined and a No. 1 draft choice was taken away during that year of accomplishment.”
Shula made the comments at an event to preview plans for celebrating the Dolphins fiftieth season this year. I’m pretty sure the entire season will consist of Mercury Morris going on every talk show possibly talking the 1972 perfect season.
Since Shula is all about class and dignity we look forward to hearing his comments on the recent roster moves of the Dolphins. You know like resigning Mike Pouncey, ringleader of a bullying ring to a new contract or signing Ndamukong Suh, a player who has done things like this or this.
We know where Shula stands on under inflating balls, but how about kicking a quarterback in theirs?
