Eddie Vedder is one of Chicago’s favorite sons, and as a Cubs fan, the lead singer of Pearl Jam was in line to sing “Take Me Out to The Ball Game” during the iconic 7th inning stretch during the World Series. He had big shoes to fill following Bill Murray’s wild rendition, but with the Cubs winning, Vedder paid tribute to Harry Caray and soon-to-be-retired Cubs catcher David Ross.
Needless to say, everyone loved it. The anticipation was so great that Cubs fans were tweeting when they saw Vedder get up to head to the box in the sixth inning, and cameras followed him as he made his way to the microphone.

Of course, Bill Murray was singing along in the stands right next to the rest of the Cubs fans, clad head to toe in blue:

Outside of Wrigley, the song echoed off the bricks of the north side.

As of this writing, the Cubs are on the precipice of winning their first World Series game ever in Wrigley Field, as the series will (possibly) head back to Cleveland with the Indians leading the series 3-2.
