Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Days after an impromptu meeting at a Miami Heat game, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are headed towards a fight—that is if you believe Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.
“There are no issues that I can see that mean anything.”
That quote, in and of itself, is a huge deal. Those two have always found something to argue about. Always. Whether it’s the fight purse or drug testing, or the size of gloves or the color of trunks. But now? It finally looks like all the petty BS has been cast aside.
More from Arum:
“I cannot assure you that its gonna happen but certainly with this development in Miami and from what I know about the finalization of papers and everything I have to be optimistic. And I know that everybody that I deal with like Les Mooves of CBS and HBO’s Richard Plepler are all very positive of this making this happen.”
The fight is tentatively scheduled for May 2nd. If the details aren’t finalized by mid February, then yeah it’s not happening. That being said, for the first time, I feel pretty damn confident. I feel pretty good in saying, “let’s get ready to rumble.”
