Let’s jump right into this week’s Friday Sports Conversation. On the heels of Tom Brady’s fourth Super Bowl title and third MVP, where does he rank among the all-time greats. Did he jump Joe Montana? Did he surpass John Elway?
Who are the top five quarterbacks of all-time?
1) Joe Montana
2) Tom Brady
3) John Elway
4) Peyton Manning
5) Aaron Rodgers
I know, let the rage start flowing – “Where are the old guys like Johnny Unitas and Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach and whoever else my dad loved?!?! – but I can only include the guys I grew up watching and begrudgingly respecting while cursing my team for not having an awesome QB. “But Burnsy, aren’t you a Dolphins fan? Where’s Dan Marino?” Fun fact: My mom, an ER nurse, saved Marino’s mom’s life, and when he thanked her, she asked for an autograph for me, her son who idolized him, and he said no. So screw that dude.
1) Joe Montana
2) John Elway
3) Tom Brady
4) Peyton Manning
5) Dan Marino
I put Marino at 5 to piss off Burnsy. Also, if Peyton Manning had Belichick, he wins 10 Super Bowls. /hot take
1. Peyton Manning
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. John Elway
4. Tom Brady
5. Steve Young
1. Dan Marino
2. Peyton Manning
3. Brett Favre
4. John Elway
5. Drew Brees
Because “great” and “best” are subjective and impossible to define in football, my rankings are based on who was the most exciting to watch, not how many Super Bowls they won.
