It’s happening. Finally, after years of stops and starts that led to some boxing fans wondering if the fight would ever materialize, Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez have signed papers, stared each other in the eyes, and said into microphones on-camera that they’re fighting each other in September. This is really happening. Finally!

The hype alone from this matchup should make it one of the biggest fights in years, and certainly, one of the biggest non-heavyweight PPVs since Pacquiao and Mayweather set historical records. Mostly, it’s a fight that will define GGG and Canelo. These men are the best active fighters in their weight divisions, and it’s a fight that should deliver beautiful violence. They’re both too good to not exude the wonders of high-level boxing action. It’s gonna be phenomenal.
At this point in the article, it’s best we watch the trailer again to get more sufficiently hyped. Here it is below:

So after GGG was on the air, Oscar de la Hoya also made an appearance. He isn’t saying where the fight will be, but there’s evidence of where it will likely take place.
Despite De La Hoya dancing around where Canelo-GGG will be, the @TMobileArena is already booked for Sept. 16 for Canelo. pic.twitter.com/peUAClBxVo
