The Houston Cougars entered Saturday’s contest against the Oklahoma Sooners as double-digit underdogs, but Tom Herman’s team doesn’t appear to care. While leading 19-17 in the third quarter, Houston lined up to contest a lengthy field goal attempt from the Sooners and, well, it did not work out well for Oklahoma.
Houston’s Brandon Wilson snatched the ball while keeping his toes in bounds and the rest was history. The speedster took the ball down the sidelines, hurdled his own teammate and crossed the threshold to place the Cougars firmly in control.
For a bit of reference as to just how close Wilson was to stepping out of bounds before the 109-yard return ever began, here is the visual evidence:

Without the benefit of exact confirmation, this would almost certainly be the longest return of any kind in college football history, simply because of how close Wilson came to the white chalk. The Sooners can also lament the fact that they look to be woefully unprepared for the proceedings, including the fact that beefy offensive linemen were in pursuit of Wilson near the end to the point of sheer comedy.
Oklahoma is reeling, Houston is celebrating and the college football world is rejoicing with a play that is fully reminiscent of the legendary “Kick-Six” from Auburn against Alabama in 2013.
