Hugh Jackman Also Has Mutant-Like Strength In The Weight Room

Hugh Jackman is an absolute animal in the weight room. Over the years, he’s posted a number of photos and videos to his Instagram account as he moves serious steel around in the gym. In this latest clip, Jackman deadlifts 410 pounds with relative ease (he’s done 435 pounds before). The pull, along with his 355-pound squat and a 235-pound bench press put Jackman into the exclusive 1,000-pound lifting club.

Last year, Muscle & Fitness caught up with Jackman’s trainer, the man responsible for getting him in shape for his role as Wolverine. He described the brutal training schedule which often included two-a-days.

“We trained at about 4 a.m. on the day we left for France,” Kingsbury recalls. “We then flew in, hiked up this mountain, filmed all day in freezing weather, finished around 9 or 10 p.m., and got straight back in the car to go to the hotel. We both slept the whole ride, then went to the hotel gym at 11 to get the second session in.”

As Jackman once said, “If the bar ain’t bending, then you’re just pretending.”
