While Jimmy Kimmel continued his tradition of sending Guillermo to NBA Finals media day, Jimmy Fallon carried on a late-night tradition of his own by handing out superlatives for players in the Stanley Cup Final. Both ended up producing pretty fantastic results.
This is the third installment of the “Most Likely To” awards. Fallon also did them early in the playoffs and then again in the Conference Finals, but these are probably the best (and most accurate) of the trio. There are certainly plenty of characters between both the Sharks and Penguins to work with, but the latest batch targets Logan Couture, Ben Lovejoy, Patrick Marleau, Melker Karlsson, Justin Schultz, Ian Cole, and Oskar Sundqvist. Each of their descriptions are pretty spot-on.
Fallon seemed to go in extra hard on the Penguins, who have a chance to clinch the Cup on Thursday night in Pittsburgh. If they manage to do it, some of their players will be making the late night television rounds with the trophy before long. We’ll just have to hope one of them visits The Tonight Show with intentions of bringing up the segment for the purpose of entertainment value. Maybe Ben Lovejoy will even bring along a mixtape to give to Fallon.
