John Rocker Used A ‘Hail Mary’ Metaphor To Talk About Race

The last time we heard from John Rocker, he was telling a female contestant on ‘Survivor’ that if she were a man, he would have knocked her teeth out. Prior to that, we heard him on the radio plugging his stint on the show by saying his experience was the worst thing he had ever done. And prior to THAT, he’s spent the last 2+ years writing editorials for a conservative online publication called ‘WorldNetDaily’. He’s been a very busy man.

His latest post was about race. See if you can spot the metaphor.

Fourth down and 20 from their own 10-yard line as time is running out. The game seems to be lost; any further effort would appear futile. But then the ball is snapped; the left-wing quarterback drops back to pass in one final gasping effort and flings the race card far down the field. It’s a long shot, but it’s the only shot they’ve got. As it flies threw the air, the spectators watch from the edges of their seats. Surely, after four quarters of consistent defeat they will not emerge victorious on this one final desperate play. But we all know the outcome.

Did you catch it? I know it was subtle. In fact there were actually two of them if you count “race card” being a metaphor itself. He used a football metaphor to describe a race metaphor.

According to Rocker, usage of the race card is on its way out, as evidenced by the results of last week’s elections and also that minority voters have successful role models they can look to such as these four people.

The game is changing. Minorities today have tremendous role models to admire who have achieved success in their lives through the conservative principles of personal responsibility and self-initiative, instead of the liberal ideals of victimology and government dependence. Individuals such as Dr. Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Mia Love and Tim Scott (who has still not been congratulated by the National Association for the ADVANCEMENT of Colored People) are doing a tremendous job leading with their actions and showing the minority community that when playing the hand that one is dealt it’s not necessary to have a race card in the deck.

Wait now we’re playing cards? What happened to the football?

It was intercepted by a Green Bay defensive back, wasn’t it?
