Earlier this week, we told you about the friendship between Masters champ Jordan Spieth and Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The two have been palling around for years, showing up at birthdays and regularly playing golf together. They even tag-teamed for a third place finish at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2013.
In an interview with Jim Rome on Showtime, Spieth talked about the on-course rivalry between the two, and just how much money he’s taken from Romo.
“The good news is he doesn’t swallow his pride and take a lot of strokes. He likes to play maybe like 2 or 3 a side, which means I’m usually on the winning end of that one.”
“Oh, man. I don’t know. I can’t even count that high,” Spieth said. “He’s a good friend and a great competitor so we have fun out there.”
Listen, Tony Romo’s a very good golfer, maybe even a scratch one at some point. But 2-3 strokes to a pro golfer as talented as Spieth is asinine. Then again, Romo making bad decisions during a sporting event isn’t all that uncommon.
