Straight from the UFC’s mouth, Jose Aldo Jr’s injured rib has forced the featherweight champ to withdraw from his upcoming title defense at UFC 189 on July 11 against “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.
Former title challenger Chad “Money” Mendes, who has been on standby in case Aldo’s injury was deemed too severe to compete, will step in to face McGregor for an interim title.
There is currently no timetable for Aldo’s full return.
