When all is said and done with the 2016 NFL season, the Monday Night Football matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams might go down as the worst game of the season. By far. The Rams ineptitude proved for terrible television but thankfully a fan ran onto the field during the fourth quarter and Kevin Harlan — calling the game on radio — livened up for the first true action of the game, and the only highlight of the night at Levi’s Stadium.
Harlan called the moment with the intensity of a game-winning touchdown because that’s probably how it felt after three hours of Case Keenum. “Hey somebody has run out on the field,” he said with excitement creeping into his voice. From there he went into a full yell, “Some goofball in a hat, and a red shirt. Now he takes off the shirt! He’s running down the middle by the 50. He’s at the 30. He’s bare-chested and banging his chest!”
By the end of the action, Kevin confirms with a sigh “that was the most exciting thing to happen tonight.” It was amazing, and a true gift from Kevin to anybody who had the misfortune of sitting through that awful 28-0 Niners victory over the Rams on the radio. Check out a fan video of the “goofball” doing a lap around the field below, and if you’re a real computer wiz sync it with Harlan’s call for peak enjoyment.
