Kevin Ferguson Jr. is Kimbo Slice’s son. His nickname is Baby Slice, and he inherited his dad’s fists of stone. Last March, in his first amateur fight, he knocked out his opponent in just 83 seconds, surely making his father proud.
As we know, Kimbo passed away in June and the MMA world reeled from this great loss. But even while grieving, Baby Slice is moving forward into the world of professional fighting, and following in his father’s footsteps by entering Bellator MMA.
“I was always around the fight business and everything, so I saw it and I understood what was going on,” Ferguson told the AP. “I just knew without a doubt that one day, this was what I wanted to do.”
Of course, his father’s death is weighing heavy on him.
“I won’t say I adjusted well or it didn’t bother me, but I was talking to him a few days before, so I understood what was going on.
It was more of a shock to the world, put it like that. It was still a very big tragedy, but I got through it. I’m still getting through it. I won’t say I’m over it, but I’m working on it, I guess.”
Needless to say, all eyes will be on Kevin Ferguson Jr. August 26th in Los Angeles. He has a lot to live up to.
