By far the biggest story to come out of the first night of the 2016 NFL Draft was the bizarre spiral of Ole Miss lineman Laremy Tunsil. Once thought to be among the top two or three best players overall in the draft, Tunsil fell all the way to the Dolphins at No. 13, in part because of a video of him smoking marijuana showed up on his Twitter feed just before the draft. From there, Tunsil’s night only got worse as he appeared to admit that he took money from his coaches at Ole Miss during a post-draft presser.
On Friday morning, Roger Goodell had an interesting reaction to the situation when speaking to ESPN’s Mike and Mike, calling it “exciting.”
“I think it’s all part of what makes the draft so exciting. Clubs make decisions. Sometimes they take risks. Sometimes they do the right things. Sometimes they don’t, and we’ll see. Hopefully, he is going to turn out to be a great young player.”
Not exactly the word I would use to describe it, but Goodell only has a select few phrases programmed in under his robot skin, so you gotta give him a bit of a break.
