You may recall the playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals last year. It was a game that was quite eventful, and led to many a hot take after the fact. However, even before that game, bad blood was brewing, thanks, in part, to a hit from Cincinnati’s Vontaze Burfict that tore Le’Veon Bell’s MCL on November 1.
Video for those that haven’t seen it.
For the first time since that injury, Bell is practicing with his teammates, but he still has some negative things to say about the Bengals as an organization.
“I don’t think it was just (Burfict); it was like the whole team was really out there trying to like twist my ankles and do little dirty stuff in between the piles,” said Bell. While he singled out the Bengals for being dirty, he doesn’t think they are the only ones. “Obviously a lot of teams in our division really play that same way, so obviously I know that — I just was kind of ignorant to that at first because I didn’t think people played like that,” he said.
Bells thinks all his injuries, including the hit from Burfict, were flukes, and he’s not injury prone. Hopefully he is able to stay healthy this season, and play a full year. Bell is one of the best running backs in the NFL, and having him stay on the field would be nice. Surely, at the very least, he’s going to be more careful when the Bengals are on the schedule.
