At some point this evening, the UFC and EA Sports will announce the winner of the cover contest, and I forgot to keep track of it, so it’s going to be a nice huge surprise for all of us. In the meantime, we can talk about those stupid things, what are they called? Oh yeah, actual fights. Tomorrow night at 8 PM ET on Fox, we’ve got another card of good, old-fashioned free fights at UFC on Fox 9, and this time the event is headlined with what many expect to be a fantastic title fight.
UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson takes on the No. 1 contender Joseph Benevidez in a rematch from UFC 152, at which Mighty Mouse became the UFC’s first-ever Flyweight Champion with a split decision victory. Johnson has defended his title twice since then, while Benevidez is 3-0 in his quest to return to this main event. In a match that should be just as exciting, Uriah Faber and Michael McDonald will fight for the right to presumably face the winner of the championship unification bout between Interim Champ Renan Barao and Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 169 in February.
Join us for UFC on Fox 9 tomorrow, starting at 4:30 PM ET for the online preliminary, at 5 PM ET for the Fox Sports 1 prelims and then at 8 PM ET for the main card on Fox, if anything so we can discuss how boring it is when there is a half hour of nothing between fights.
