The MSU/Michigan game last weekend was mostly notable for Michigan fans having defeat snatched from the jaws of victory and the ensuing mockery visited upon Jim Harbaugh’s squad via social media. Michigan fans probably would have preferred the above video be the highlight of the game for MSU, but, hey, at least it’s a fun watch no matter what.
As usual, half the fun is watching the band march in formation and listen to the announcer awkwardly explain to the crowd what a bunch of people standing around is supposed to represent. I have to admit, it’s a real comedy highlight listening to a trained broadcaster try to explain what the hell happens in a movie where a talking raccoon and his barely articulate pet tree are major characters. But they do also manage to hit pretty much every major musical theme in the Marvel universe, and do them quite well — especially the Avengers theme and Black Sabbath, which oddly both lend themselves well to being played on a sousaphone.
As for what they should play for the next time they meet their rivals, really, anything involving superheroes would just come off as gloating. Perhaps a little classic rock?
