If Houston was going to make the College Football Playoff, it needed to: A) go undefeated and, B) get some help from a number of other teams. One of those things went out the window today, as the Cougars were upset by Navy, 46-40.
It was the quintessential Navy win, as the Midshipmen gained 306 of their 382 yards of total offense on the ground. Navy also controlled the clock – it had the ball for 34:44 minutes – didn’t turn the ball over, and were only penalized one time. Oh, and Ken Niumatalolo’s squad only threw the football five times, which surprises absolutely no one.
This was a big win for Navy, which took down a top-10 team for the first time in 32 years. The fans in Annapolis reacted exactly how you would expect: they stormed the field in their uniforms.

And because everyone likes Navy, the internet reacted with excitement over the Midshipmen’s win.

The win was so big that Navy’s superintendent decided to give everyone the day off on Monday, which is pretty swell.
Superintendent Carter just announced that there will be no school on Tuesday in honor of the win. Monday was already closed for Columbus Day

But even bigger than Navy’s win was the fact that the Cougars lost. Everyone expected Houston to mostly run through its remaining schedule and enter its game against Louisville with a spotless record.

Navy finished with 306 Rush Yds. That's 96 Rush Yds more than the Cougars allowed in their 1st 5 games this season COMBINED.

If there is a silver lining for the Cougars, though, it’s that they can at least listen to some wonderful Houston rap. For example:
Whatever, Houston lost but that doesn't mean I can't listen to "Still Tippin'" https://t.co/hnprjXX7yZ

Sure, Houston’s Playoff chances took a massive hit, but hey, at least they have Mike Jones, which counts for something.
