There’s still a bit of ball left to play in college football’s opening weekend, but it might be safe to say that ‘Hit of the Week’ belongs to NC State’s Dravious Wright.
During the third quarter of the Wolfpack’s opener against Troy, Wright – a junior safety for NC State – blitzed the quarterback and laid an absolutely devastating sack on Troy signal-caller Brandon Silvers. The hit’s impact was so severe that it not only forced a fumble, which was recovered by Wright, but it also dislodged Silvers’ helmet and sent it tumbling through the air.
Silvers, who unknowingly turned into the hit at the last second, appeared to be shaken up on the play but, thankfully, stayed in the game. If you ask me, he’s pretty lucky he didn’t completely disintegrate after taking a hit that violent.
