If Ralphie’s mom from “A Christmas Story” was around today — or, you know, real — she’d likely have a thing or five to say to Novak Djokovic.
Djokivic defeated Roger Federer on Sunday 6-4, 6-3 to claim his fourth Rome Masters title. The ATP’s No. 1 player should easily be the favorite for the French Open later this month. However, while Djokivic may be the best tennis player in the world right now, he’s definitely not No. 1 in uncorking champagne bottles.
Could Djokivic have played the French Open with an eye patch? Perhaps, and it probably would have looked awesome. (There is a serious lack of pirate tennis players, after all.) However, here’s betting Djokivic is glad he won’t have to find out.
