ONE Fighting Championships continues to press its way deeper into China, holding their 36th event Dynasty of Champions at the Helong Stadium in Hunan province. Chokes were the preferred finish of the night with three fights ending that way … nearly four when you take into account the tight guillotine choke Zhou Biao managed to lock in against Tang De Pan. Unfortunately for Biao, Pan had an unorthodox method of escaping that involved suplexing his opponent into oblivion.
His first two suplexes were effective enough but third time was the charm as Biao hit the canvas headfirst with his entire body weight behind it, knocking him out cold. ONE FC refs really have to be on the ball as the promotion allows kicks to the head of a grounded opponent – something Tang De Pan used to make sure his opponent was truly finished.
So-called soccer kicks are nasty indeed, and every time we see one in these Asian or European fight organizations it makes me thankful they’ve been outlawed in North America. Somehow, no one has ever been seriously harmed due to attacks like this, but you’d imagine if serious permanent damage was going to be done, it would look something like this. You probably shouldn’t move a fighter after they land on their neck like Biao did, let alone allow someone to kick them in the head afterwards.
