The first-round series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings may be the most physical of them all. During Game 2 on Friday night, it cost Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk at least one tooth.
Midway through the second period, Datsyuk caught an accidental stick in the mouth from Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman. Accident or not, Datsyuk wanted revenge after there was no call and delivered a high hit to Hedman seconds later that resulted in a two-minute roughing penalty.
Datsyuk had to go to the locker room for medical attention and while he did, teammate Henrik Zetterberg returned to the scene of the crime to pick up at least one tooth off the ice.

Not long after that, all hell broke loose when Detroit’s Danny DeKeyser leveled Ondrej Palat with a vicious hit behind the net.

Since this officiating crew already established it won’t call obvious penalties, they sent two Lightning players to the penalty box during the ensuing kerfuffle that took place.
This series may not lost very long but if you enjoy large men inflicting serious physical harm to each other, this is your matchup.
