As a hockey player, you kind of have to expect to run into an unfortunate injury at some point in your career. That’s just the way things work. However, you typically don’t expect such pain to be inflicted by one of your own team’s players.
But luck apparently wasn’t on the side of Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn on Thursday night, as he took a stick straight to the face courtesy of fellow teammate Vincent Lecavalier. The painful moment came in the second period when Lecavalier attempted to swat a puck out of mid-air by the bench area, blindly swinging his stick straight into Schenn’s grill in the process.
