A Florida State football legend is going to the NFL. Former ball boy Red Lightning, whose real name is Frankie Grizzle, announced on Twitter Sunday that he will join the Atlanta Falcons for training camp.
If you don’t remember Red Lightning, he was a staple on the Seminoles’ sidelines during FSU’s march to a national title in 2013. He would often be caught sprinting down the sidelines – sometimes seemingly faster than players – and was arguably the most recognizable ‘Nole that year, save for head coach Jimbo Fisher or Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston. Here is a video which highlights some of Grizzle’s finest moments:
Here’s to hoping we see a lot of Grizzle on the Falcons’ sideline in 2015 and beyond. Or, for that matter, any sideline, because the world is a happier place when Red Lightning is a football team’s ball boy.
