Here is a quick list of some of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski’s highlights in what has been known as the “Summer of Gronk”:
- He made a cameo on Live With Kelly And Michael and danced to MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This.”
- Played ice dodgeball at a minor league hockey game.
- Hit on a reporter.
- Twerked at a Clippers game.
- Cut a promo with NXT superstar Mojo Rawley while Paramore’s “Still Into You” blasted in the background.
- Flexed when a reporter asked him about Deflategate.
- Posted (and deleted) a Vine where he told haters to “deflate deez nuts.”
- Gave advice on how to pick up girls on Tinder.
- Gave a high school football player cleats and wrote “stay hyped, get chicks” on them.
- Starred in this weird interview that featured a puppy.
All caught up? Good. Because the latest event in the “Summer of Gronk” is happening on June 20. Gronk and his four brothers will serve as co-Grand Marshals for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. His father will be the race’s honorary starter, while Gronk will drive the pace car for the race. This means that Rob Gronkowski will be behind the wheel of a stock car, which is spectacular.
In a statement released by Chicagoland Speedway, the Super Bowl-winning tight end said that he’s “stoked” to spend Father’s Day weekend with his family in Illinois.
“I’m stoked to spend Father’s Day weekend with my family at Chicagoland Speedway. Not only are we coming from all over the country to celebrate the best dad in the world, but I get the ultimate adrenaline rush of getting behind the wheel and driving the pace car to kick-off the NASCAR race,” said Rob Gronkowski. “My brothers and I get to say the most famous words in racing, ‘Drivers Start Your Engines,” and my dad gets to wave the green flag to start the race. It’s going to be an awesome weekend.”
There’s no telling what’s next in the “Summer of Gronk,” but my money’s on him dropping a mixtape or taking a trip to space.
