Ronda Rousey made her Wrestlemania debut seven months ago, when she showed up alongside The Rock, but her appearance is still reverberating as one of the top moments of the year in the WWE. The fans loved it, and Rousey loved it too – so much so that she’s quite insistent she will make a return to the squared circle. The only question is when, and on that she is staying mum. Here’s what she told FOX Sports Australia while promoting her big stadium show in Melbourne on November 15:
While her contract with UFC will make it difficult for her to run the ropes anytime soon, the avid wrestling fans admits grappling for Vince McMahon’s company is on her bucket list.
“After getting a taste of it I’m definitely going to find a way to get back in there,” Rousey said.
“I don’t know how or when but I don’t think any true wrestling fans would want to know anyway. They’d want to be surprised. I’ve got to get back in there somehow.”
That still sounds like Rousey wants to make an occasional appearance while under contract with the UFC, rather than cross over into wrestling as a full-time gig. But will her tune change when her contract is up and she has a chance to pull a Brock Lesnar and pit the UFC and WWE against each other for more money?
Brock has a pretty plum deal with the WWE, only appearing at select shows and only in support of big PPV matches. He doesn’t have to go through the same grueling gauntlet of road dates that most other WWE superstars do. A similar deal for Rousey might be appealing, especially as she is spending more and more time on movie sets instead of the gym.
That won’t be an issue for a while though. Rousey signed a contract extension with the UFC after her 14-second finish of Cat Zingano, and those are often for five or even seven fights. But just to keep her happy, UFC president Dana White might want to consider letting her back into the wrestling ring. As the UFC’s biggest star by far, Ronda tends to get what she wants.
