Rory McIlroy announced via Instagram on Monday that he ruptured a ligament in his ankle while playing in a soccer game with friends over the weekend.
Of course, this now puts his ability to defend his title at the upcoming British Open in jeopardy. The opening round of the 2015 Open tees off July 16, giving McIlroy less than two weeks to prepare.
McIlroy had been the favorite to defend his title, but based on the picture he posted, his chances of even participating are not looking good.
