A lonely Seahawks fan stood out in a sea of red Cardinals jerseys on Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium during the NFC Divisional game, but not just because he showed up in attire that didn’t match anyone else in the crowd. Prior to Aaron Rodgers’ crazy Hail Mary on the final play of regulation that sent the game into overtime, a man wearing a Seahawks jersey got involved in a vicious brawl with a handful of Cardinals fans.
It’s not clear from the video what started the fight, but the young man seemed to get to the worst of it, getting pummeled by a handful of haymakers.
Near the end, you can hear another fan — presumably the man filming — scream that the Seahawks fan was the victim in this scrum. But if you watch closely, he was clearly the first to rush the scene, so it doesn’t seem likely that he was completely innocent in all of this.
According to the NY Daily News, this was just one incident in the stands that marred an otherwise classic NFL playoff game, with 63 fans getting kicked out of the stadium throughout the game, including one woman who was arrested for disorderly conduct.
On Sunday, insult was added to this fan’s injury, with his favorite team getting bounced from the playoffs by the Carolina Panthers, who will move on to face the Cardinals at Bank of America Stadium next Sunday.
