On Saturday, Serena Williams won her fourth major in a row and 21st Grand Slam title, defeating Garbine Muguruza in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 at Wimbledon. Everyone’s now talking about Serena as the G.O.A.T., the best player the women’s game has ever seen. That’s certainly a topic for debate and one that we can discuss when Serena retires.
In the meantime, there are a-holes out there who are more concerned with Serena’s body, particularly ones who believe she looks like a man. Immediately following her victory, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling shot down a Twitter user who dared make that comparison.
It was beautiful.
#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!

@jk_rowling @hansmollman ironic then that main reason for her success is that she is built like a man

.@diegtristan8 "she is built like a man". Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot. pic.twitter.com/BCvT10MYkI

REMINDER: Calling women who are strong and athletic “men” is stupid and misogynistic. Thank you.
