It’s not everyday that a player in South Korea’s K League Challenge gets any attention in the United States or anywhere else in the world. But one K League Challenge player in particular deserves a ton of praise today.
Min-kyu Joo, a 25-year-old forward for Seoul E-Land FC, scored a wonder goal in a match which is almost a direct replica of the goal that Colombia’s James Rodríguez scored in the 2014 World Cup against Uruguay. Joo chested the ball outside the box and fired a rocket with his right foot, which got past the opposing team’s goaltender.
Rodríguez won the 2014 Puskás Award, which is given annually by FIFA to honor the best goal of the year, for his strike. Of course, the circumstances were a bit different, but maybe Joo can expect the same award for 2015.
