Well, it’s Week 3 in the NFL, so we were probably overdue for a situation featuring Steve Smith getting into a verbal spat with another player.
After the Baltimore Ravens beat the forever disappointing Jacksonville Jaguars 19-17 on Sunday with Smith catching eight passes for 87 yards. Jaguars rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey found himself the target of Smith’s screaming after the game, and he offered an explanation for it to NFL.com.
“Yeah, but I’m not worried about him. He was still mad because I was locking him up. Alright, well sleep on it. I’m not trying to hear that after the game.”
Ramsey had thoughts on the Ravens keeping Smith away from him too:
“Yeah. I noticed that throughout the game a little bit. If you go back and look he’s lined up away from me. It is what it is. As a player, he’s still a good player. I’ll say that about him. I don’t respect him as a man though.”
While the 8-87-0 line looks nice, almost none of it came against Ramsey, who was graded very well by Pro Football Focus:
Targeted six times in coverage, he allowed four receptions, but they combined to go for just 13 yards, with Ramsey finishing the game with three tackles resulting in a defensive stop. He also tipped the pass that was ultimately intercepted by safety Tashaun Gipson, highlighting a big day for the rookie.
Of course, Smith wasn’t going to let this go; not when you question his manhood.

I love to imagine Smith losing his mind over everyday events. Like, he’s at the supermarket checkout and something he purchases is supposed to be four for $10, but the clerk swipes something incorrectly so it costs $15. Then Smith starts screaming in the face of a teenage girl about respect and doing your job while he’s going to Canton.
