NFL injuries are never pleasant, but in the case of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, it appears that things have escalated far beyond simply unfortunate. Bridgewater suffered what has been reported as a non-contact leg injury during the team’s practice on Tuesday, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the injury was severe enough to induce vomit from other members of the Vikings roster.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer described Bridgewater’s malady as a “significant knee injury,” and the talented quarterback was immediately picked up in an ambulance and transported for testing. The injury occurred with Bridgewater’s left leg, and reports are now circulating that his “leg snapped” and “his knee was flailing around.”

However, there are conflicting reports out there regarding the squeamishness of Vikings players. According to Sam Newton, a public relations assistant with the team, the reports of Minnesota players vomiting because of the severity of Bridgewater’s injury were off-base.

Specifics are difficult to come by with regard to the injury at this time, but given the unanimity of on-site media in reporting a severe ailment and the confirmation from Zimmer, it appears that the Vikings will be without their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. This is a rare instance in which in the absence of high-definition video is probably a good thing, and it will be nearly impossible not to root for a full recovery for Teddy Bridgewater in the future.
