Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson, that mass of muscle known as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones, was on quite the streak. The Indianapolis Colts invited him to play for them, but he declined because he wanted to become the Strongest Man in Ireland and Iceland, and eventually, all of Europe. Twice. He also broke a 1,000-year-old weightlifting record, painted himself green to look like the Hulk, tried to kill the Phillie Phanatic, and ate seven chickens in a single sitting, as one does. All in all, not a bad way to spend 2014 and 2015.
But he’s finally met his match in Devon Larratt, who Arm Wrestling World tells me is “one of the best arm wrestlers in the world.” His credentials include “various arm wrestling titles in the past, including the national champ award, which he won five times, four bronze worlds, and the Master of the Universe Award.” Just ONCE I’d like to win a Master of the Universe Award. Larratt (225 pounds) took on Björnsson (419) not in Hungry Hungry Hippos, but arm wrestling, and he pulled the ultimate power move. He made The Mountain look him in the eyes while he was beating him.
If only the Red Viper had been so lucky.
