The Phillies might’ve just found a secret weapon to get them out of the basement in the MLB standings. Hafthór Björnsson, better known as The Mountain on Game Of Thrones, stopped by the team’s batting practice on Friday to strike fear in the heart of the Phanatic, wrestle with Jeff Francoeur, and work on his form in the batting cage.

He even got his own jersey, forcing John Kruk to step up his game. If Rubén Amaro, Jr. didn’t attempt to sign him on sight, I’ll be shocked.
The only problem would be his work at the plate. Luckily, Jeff Francoeur is on the team and it wouldn’t stick out too much. He still needs a lot of work or needs to learn to lean into the pitch.

The Mountain’s meeting with The Phanatic sparked an exchange between the Diamondbacks and Phillies on Twitter, bringing up some possible trial by combat. It’s the kind of talk that makes you worry for guys like Bronson Arroyo. He’s already on the DL and I doubt he could handle this kind of trouble.

.@Phillies We're going to play THAT?

.@Dbacks Instead of baseball tonight, trial by combat?

This is certainly one of the more memorable visits a baseball team could have. It certainly beats Billy Crystal’s appearance at Yankees’ Spring Training all to hell. The obvious thing to happen would be to have Pedro Pascal to show up at Mets batting practice and have the two teams face off. I just hope it ends a little differently in real life.
