Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday afternoon for the murder of Odin Lloyd. A jury of his peers returned a guilty verdict after deliberating for 36 hours. Hernandez is not eligible for parole.

The NFL reacted immediately to the verdict, voicing their opinions on Twitter. Several players, including former Florida Gators Brandon Spikes and Janoris Jenkins, expressed outrage at the justice system.
