Parks and Recreation returned to NBC on Tuesday night with back-to-back episodes that time-jumped into the distant future of 2017. In the latter episode, viewers were treated to a few sports-themed references and television Easter Eggs, which is not surprising if you’re familiar with a portion of the show’s production team made famous by the old Fire Joe Morgan website.
If you’re a fan of the show, and perhaps a bit of a baseball nerd, you may recall last season Ben Wyatt visiting the law offices of Bapip, Pecota, Vorp, and Eckstein. Well it appears there’s been a merger as the law office has added four new partners in Fwar, Dips, Winshares, and Gritt.
I like to think Gritt and Eckstein were the catalysts for the merger. They’re not the most menacing figures, but once they step into that courtroom, what they lack in physical stature they surely make up for in determination and hustle. It’s good to have a couple guys like that on your team if you want to be a successful firm. I also bet there’s a story in Fwar joining the firm but not Bwar. Granted Bwar does things a little differently, but he’s still a pretty good dude IMO.
Later in the episode, we were treated to another fun anecdote during Andy and Tom’s visit to Chicago. Warning, this video includes a pretty big spoiler. Eh, screw it. THE CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!
I’m surprised Wrigley Field is still standing. I always thought that after the Cubs finally win one, Chicagoans will burn that mother to the ground. Good to know we showed some restraint.
