“Sorry, I had a cramp there. I guess a lot of us from Northeast Ohio can’t take the heat.” In case you don’t get that super sick burn, this high school senior class president and valedictorian is referring to how LeBron James suffered leg cramps in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and his teammates had to carry him from the court. It was an incident that led to a barrage of Internet memes, from people referring to James as a woman – because menstruation leads to cramps, you see – to calling basketball players weak, because hockey players get decapitated and their bodies’ natural inclinations are to keep skating and scoring goals.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just being extra cynical because the cramp jokes were done to death within 24 hours of Game 1, and the NBA Finals are already over. Or maybe I’m just underwhelmed by this joke because I loved that other school’s mariachi band prank so much. At least the bros sitting behind this valedictorian thought his joke killed, so maybe the rest of the country agrees. All I’m saying is that jokes like this* won’t convince James to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
*And the current roster and ownership.
