I mean, I probably would’ve sticked the guy in the back of the head for doing it, but this might seriously be the worst call ever made in a hockey game.
Brendan Leipsic of the WHL Portland Winterhawks got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for drinking the opposing goalie’s water bottle. No, for real:
I’m gonna assume there’s a context here, like the goalie has OCD and Leipsic knows it and the refs know he knows it, so they’re penalizing him for being a jerk. Or maybe it’s the other way around? Maybe Lepisic suffers from chronic drymouth, and he’d been trying to make it back to the bench but he’d been stuck on the ice forever and was gonna die if he didn’t take a drink.
