Things got ugly in overtime of the Texas-Baylor game Monday night as teams cleared the benches with two minutes remaining. It all started when Royce O’Neale and Isiah Taylor went after a loose ball near mid-court. That led to some pushing and shoving and jaw jacking—all in all not very serious.
But in the middle of it all, several players from both sides left the bench, a no-no in college basketball. Officials went to the monitors and tossed seven players: John Heard, Ishmail Wainright and Johnathan Motley from Baylor and Kendal Yancy, Connor Lammert, Prince Ibeh and Cameron Ridley from Texas.
The Longhorns went on to win the game on an Isaiah Taylor shot with five seconds remaining. According to the Tribune-Herald, the players involved in the scuffle will avoid suspension because no punches were thrown.
