Tom Izzo’s heart simply can’t take much more of these late-game meltdowns. Leading 67-56 against Indiana, Izzo’s MSU squad missed free throw after free throw leaving them up only one point with 0.7 seconds remaining. That’s when Izzo instructed freshman Marvin Clark to purposely miss a free throw to let the clock run out.
He didn’t. He “accidentally” made it.
Izzo’s reaction is perfectly captured here.
Thankfully for MSU, Indiana missed a Hail Mary three point attempt at the buzzer and the Spartans secured the three seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament.
