What do you do when Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban rolls in on your street hockey game? Son, you step your game up. That’s just what 8-year-old Jack Fraser did last weekend. Subban was reportedly driving through Montreal’s Westmount neighborhood on the way home from dinner when he spotted the game of pick-up and decided to join in. You know… because Canada.
Now look, we’re not seriously suggesting that one of the best defencemen in the league can’t score on a tiny child, but how amazing must it have felt to block those shots? Subban is no stranger to surprising kids with once in a lifetime experiences: Last December, he dressed up as a security guard to surprise a group of underprivileged children with the “ultimate hockey experience.”
Jack’s father told CBC Montreal that, at first, he didn’t believe what was happening:
“I was in my house, and my oldest son came running over and said, ‘You have to come, P.K.’s on the street,” he said.
“I didn’t believe him at first, and I actually expected to get pelted with water balloons.”
Oh man, that’s so much better than water balloons.
