Southern University, a historically black college in the FCS known more for its Human Jukebox marching band than its football team, has played two games, and Willie Quinn has already scored three special teams touchdowns. He stands 5-foot, 5-inches tall and he’s got moves for days, as his crazy kick return above proves beyond a shadow of a doubt. I mean, just look at this insanity:
Southern lost to Jeff Driskel and Louisiana Tech in their first game of the season (even though Quinn had a 100-yard kick return TD), but on Thursday night, they put a whooping on Mississippi Valley State, with Willie running back a punt and a kick for a touchdown, and uncorking this bomb on a double reverse pass (Damn, were we all watching the wrong football game Thursday night?):
It’s less than two weeks into the college football season and we’ve already got our first folk hero. Willie Quinn would already have a sick nickname befitting his talents by now if his real name wasn’t so damn catchy. Hopefully he stays healthy for the Bayou Classic, the traditional, nationally-televised match-up between Southern and Grambling State the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If he’s playing, we all should be watching.
