Running on Yoenis Cespedes is beginning to become one of those things. You know, like don’t give Steph Curry space; don’t let Ronda Rousey get anywhere close to your arms; don’t accuse the Patriots of or catch them cheating because they may win every single game forever afterwards. Don’t run on Yoenis Cespedes. Ever.

Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro didn’t get the memo, because the fifth year veteran decided to test Cespedes’ rocket arm on a single hit to left and was kindly greeted with a laser that beat him to the plate by about 10 feet. Or this much.

That was the second out in what could have been a huge 5th inning for the Cubs, and the Mets ended the inning by striking out Cubs’ pitcher Jon Lester. New York took the led in the bottom half of the 5th and scored again in the next two innings to pad their lead.

Cespedes may have had a rough night at the plate (he struck out three times) but, when all is said and done, his dart from left may end up being the biggest play of the game.
