From the mind of Connor Hough comes this delightful yet disappointingly fake trailer for an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary entitled, Brian, which chronicles the life of NBA legend Brian Scalabrine on and off the court. Known to his fierce and loyal fans as the White Mamba, Scalabrine’s personality has always made him one of the great ironic celebrities of modern professional sports, which is why this video is a little more depressing than it is funny, because it just sucks that it’s fake. For every three serious, informative and even inspiring 30 for 30 documentaries, it wouldn’t kill ESPN to toss in some more humorous stories to lighten the mood a little.
If anything, Scalabrine should at least have his own series on NBA TV that follows him as he travels to games and heckles random players. Hell, he could just follow Tyler Hansbrough around the country, trying to fight him. It would probably earn better ratings than the games of half of the teams in the league right now.
If you’re really upset that this isn’t a real video, you can watch this “Vamos a la Playa” tribute to Scalabrine as well to help fill the void.
