Drummer A.J. Pero of the glam metal band Twisted Sister passed away earlier today. He was 55 years old.
The band made the official announcement on its Facebook page. According to the AP, Pero suffered and died from an apparent heart attack while on tour with the band Adrenaline Mob. He was found on the band’s tour bus and taken to a hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he was later pronounced dead.
A few hours after the initial Facebook announcement, Twisted Sister’s members provided individual comments and condolences:
According to Billboard, Pero joined the band in 1982, left in 1986, and returned in 1997. The band’s lone Pero-less album is Love Is For Suckers (1987), which no one really cares about since “We’re Not Gonna Take It” isn’t one of its tracks.
