Preacher looks to follow-up The Walking Dead as the next comic book to turn into a TV phenomenon when it premieres next year on AMC. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are getting ready to start shooting Garth Ennis’s hysterically depraved comic book about a gifted preacher who sets off on a quest to find God along with his girlfriend and vampire buddy, and Rogen’s latest set of tweets helped to relieve any concerns over the direction of the series.

Preacher is an adult supernatural-western, so it’s proper to see that the “Dollars Trilogy” serves as inspiration as well as films like Kill Bill and The Raid which have similar scenes of over-the-top violence. It’s also nice to see I Saw the Devil garnering a spot in the collection — it’s one of the best cat-and-mouse thrillers of the 21st century. The list of films in Rogen and Goldberg’s stack of inspiration serves a nice indication that Preacher may finally be in good hands after the project bounced around in Hollywood for years. Hopefully this does well, and it opens the floodgates for other Ennis properties like The Boys and Just A Pilgrim.
