Dan Soder is a comedian perhaps best known for his appearances on MTV2’s Guy Code and Sirius Radio’s Opie with Jim Norton show. You may have also seen him on Showtime’s Billions. Along with Big Jay Oakerson, he co-hosts a Sirius radio show called The Bonfire. His new stand-up special, Not Special, premieres on Comedy Central this Saturday at 11 p.m. EST.
Dan was nice enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.
1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?
A club soda and over tip because I feel guilty for not drinking at a bar.
2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter and/or Instagram?
JakeTheCake45 on Instagram because his dunks/celebrations are the truth.
3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR?
Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Broad City, 30 for 30, and Monday Night Raw.
4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?
Chicken Enchiladas with an egg on top from Rosa’s in Tucson, Arizona.
5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?
AP news (in most cases, it’s the news stories without too much of an opinion attached). Splitsider, and Facebook, but I’m trying to stop.
6. What’s the most frequently played song on your mobile device?
Ohhhh, right now? James Brown’s “I Don’t Mind” from Live at the Apollo.
7. If you could go back and give your 18-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Smoke a cigarette for the future me who quit and be more comfortable shirtless now ’cause it gets WAY worse.
8. What’s the last thing you Googled?
How to properly spell Enchiladas for question four.
9. Dogs or cats?
Dogs.
10. Best concert of your life was…?
Queens of the Stone Age at the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn, where they played the entire album …Like Clockwork.
11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?
The Easy Way to Quit Drinking (or Smoking) by Alan Carr (I know a lot of hunks of shit).
12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The guy who robbed me in Tucson and didn’t shoot me in the head, that was really nice of him.
13. South Park or Family Guy?
South Park.
14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?
Hopefully it’s cloudy, then it’s sweats, couch, video games, movies, delivered food. Nap. And then all of that again.
15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?
Demolition Man…. What? Did you want me to say Goodfellas? Where it’s all edited and not as good?
16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?
49ers.
17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?
Sabrina’s Café in Philadelphia with my mom the morning after taping my special.
18. The last movie you saw in a theater?
Batman v Superman…. AND I LIKED IT!
19. Who was your first celebrity crush?
Elisabeth Shue in the Karate Kid AND/OR Miss Elizabeth.
20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?
I’d order food and then have him answer the door dressed as Cameron Poe.
