E! Is Currently Developing A Reality Show Titled ‘Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills’

E! has been making reality shows about the absurdly wealthy, giant-sunglassed children of Southern California’s elite for a while now (see here and here and here). And, to be fair, it’s not just E! (see here and here) or even reality television (see here and here) that’s been infatuated with this demo. But at least prior to today — for the most part — everyone had the decency to cover up their blatant money porn with the thinnest sheet of subtlety they could find, sending the rich people to do manual labor, or making the show about a family, or titling the show after a wealthy location and letting the audience figure out the rest. Nope. No more. Everything is officially awful.

E! has put in development Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills, a new unscripted series that revolves around a group of 20-something friends living in a world of extreme wealth who caught notice on Instagram. On the proposed series, produced by ITV Studios America in association with Leepson Bounds Entertainment, the offspring of the most elite families and billionaire moguls party, play and support each other against a backdrop of wealth. The thing about Instagram in that blockquote refers to the Rich Kids of Instagram Tumblr, which (a) is not affiliated with this show, and (b) will make you want to put a brick through your computer screen.

In other news, over 20% of borrowers in America can’t afford the payments on their student loans. Have a great afternoon.
