Get Ready For ‘The Greatest Event In Television History’ By Taking A Look Back

UPDATE: The latest GREATEST installment of The Greatest Event in Television History: Bosom Buddies!

You’ve heard about it, you’ve seen the wraparound ads, but you still might be one of those sad, lonely people wondering: just what is The Greatest Event in Television History? Written by Adam Scott and his wife, Naomi, The Greatest Event in Television History is a series of shot-for-shot remakes of classic 1980’s television show title sequences, but more importantly it’s the story of how they’re made. Just don’t take it too seriously.

The first they decided to tackle was Simon & Simon, starring Adam Scott and Jon Hamm, and directed by Paul Rudd. Of course the real action takes place in the making of mockumentary hosted by Jeff Probst:

In June 2013 Amy Poehler joined Adam Scott to pay homage to Hart to Hart. I don’t think you need me to tell you that Poehler steals the show, even with incredible guest stars like Horatio Sanz and Paul Rust:

And most recently in November 2013 Adam is joined by Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Jon Glaser and Chelsea Peretti to remake Too Close for Comfort. Jason Mantzoukas directing them might be my favorite thing he’s ever done, and I’m including Rafi on The League:

If you want to prepare yourself for tonight’s premiere of what will definitely probably actually be The Greatest Event in Television History (tonight at midnight on Adult Swim,) here’s the original opening credits to Tom Hanks‘ breakout sitcom, Bosom Buddies:
